Prevention, intervention and health promotion

The course provides knowledge of general methods for prevention, intervention and health promotion interventions for various public health problems.

The purpose is to provide the student with knowledge of and tools for motivational enhancement interventions, attitude change and behavioral change. The course addresses the suitability of providing interventions within the framework of different arenas (e.g. schools and workplaces). The course focuses both on practical examples regarding effective methods in the field and on theoretical knowledge that is necessary to be able to understand and apply relevant methods. After completing the course, the student will have a general theoretical and practical knowledge in the field and be able to describe and compare different methods in the field.

This course is given both as a single subject course, and on the individual track of the master's programme, term 3.
