Comparative Politics in English

This course is the third course within the course package Political Science I in English and is taught during term part C. It is therefore not possible to apply for this course independently as it can only be studied by students admitted to Political Science I - course package (SVE010).

The course aims at providing an introduction to the field of comparative politics. Key theoretical perspectives and basic concepts within the field are taken up. Different political systems - in relation to formal political institutions and informal aspects of the political order - are presented, discussed and compared. Issues of identity as well as the position of nation-states in a global context are also dealt with. The course module includes an introduction to comparative method and to sources of knowledge about political systems.

The course consists of nine to eleven lectures and two to three seminars. Attendance at the seminars is mandatory. Absence at a maximum of one seminar is compensated with a written assignment according to the instructions in the course instructions. In the event of more absences, the student may retake the course.


Parts of the course can be given digitally. The parts in question are then stated in the schedule and course instructions.

 

The language of instruction is English.






The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
