In Mobility Online (database of agreements) you will find information regarding language requirements, grade requirements (if applicable) and course restrictions at our partner universities. Make sure you only apply for universities where you are eligible, according to the information found in Mobility Online.

You may select between one to five universities. Your top three selections must come with a course proposal. You are required to confirm your course proposal with your home department at SU (International coordinator/Director of studies/Study counselor), or with the degree office at Stockholm University.

The application is done online via MoveON. The application link is published only when the call is open. Your application must be written in English. Use your SU-id (university account) to log into the application portal. Note that several calls might be open at the same time, so make sure you select the correct one. Once you started your application you can revisit it and make changes up until you have submitted your application. If problems occur, contact studentutbyte@su.se.

Complete your application online. It is of the greatest importance that you type your full name as written in your passport or ID document.

Be sure to use an email address that you use regularly, as we will communicate with you only by email.

Use the button "priority" to add a university to your application. Rank your selections from your number one priority, and descending.

Attachments

Your application must contain the following attachements, in PDF format.

  • Preliminary course proposal: list your course proposal for the first three universities you apply to. Use the form ” Preliminary course proposal (162 Kb) ”. You must select courses equal to full time studies. It is your responsibility to find relevant courses at your chosen universities. You are required to confirm your course proposal with your home department at Stockholm University (International coordinator/Director of studies/Study counselor), or with the degree office at Stockholm University. Your preliminary course proposal must contain the name of the person you have been in contact with regarding your course proposal. Staff at the International Office cannot aid in finding courses for your exchange.
  • Personal Letter: your letter should not be longer than a A-4, and must be written in English. Direct your letter to Stockholm University, not towards the universities you are applying for. In your letter you should motivate your choice of country/universities, and describe how this would relate to your current studies at Stockholm University. Describe in what way you would be a good ambassador for Stockholm University. Also, describe how exchange studies will help you develop academically, as well as on a personal level. Regardless of how many universities you apply for, you should only submit one (1) personal letter.

Send in your application before the deadline and make sure that you receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email, check your spam folder before you contact us at studentutbyte@su.se.

Late applications and applications that are not complete will not be considered. It is your responsibility to make sure that the mandatory information is correct and that you hand in the application in time.

Immediately after the deadline, all applications will be handled. The selection process takes between 2-4 weeks depending on the number of total applications.
The decision will be sent out via email. You will receive information regardless of weather or not you receive an exchange position.

Emails are sent out from the email addresses noreply.su@moveon4.de and studentutbyte@su.se so make sure that email from these addresses not end up in the spam folder. We also recommend that you check your spam folder regularly so that you won’t miss any important information

If you receive an offer you must accept or decline the offer in time. Follow the instructions provided in the email. Be sure to think through your decision as a the offer can be given to someone else if you decline.

If you are offered a seat, the next step is to apply for the host university. You will receive information regarding the application directly from the host university or from an international officer at the International Office. Follow the instructions carefully and apply in time.

Here are some practical information for you who are going as an exchange student. We hope that this will help you with your planning.

Practical information about exchange studies

  • Don’t include a formal language test in this application. If you are nominated for a host university that demands a formal language test, you will do this when applying for the host university.
  • Remaining seats will be offered to students who have not received a seat in the first selection round. The remaining seats are distributed according to the selection criteria. There are no extra application rounds.
  • There is always a risk that you won’t be admitted to the host university. The reason for this is often because the student has not done enough research about the host university and does not fulfil the language or grade requirements.
  • If you are not nominated in this application round you can apply as many times as you want!
