Tuition fee payment, timeline spring semester 2026

The following timeline applies to students who have been admitted in the first admissions round.

2 October - Admission results published for Bachelor's
Notification of selection results is published.

1 December - Formal deadline for payment of the tuition fee
Students required to pay the tuition fee must pay by 1 December.

The formal last due date of payment is 1 December, but please note that the Migration Agency's processing of applications can take a few months. We therefore recommend paying the tuition fee as soon as possible after receiving the admission results.

The tuition fee invoice and all the necessary information on how to pay the tuition fee can be found in your account at Ladok for students.

Payments that end up being repaid will be charged the repayment fee of 5000 SEK in accordance with our rules on payment of tuition fees.

23 January - Deadline for submitting proof of exemption from tuition fees
If you are exempted from having to pay tuition fees (generally this applies to citizens of countries outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland), you have until the 23rd of January to submit proof of the exemption for programmes and courses that start at the beginning of the semester.

For courses that start later in the semester, you have until one week after the course has started to submit these documents.

If your tuition fee status has been changed, you need to present new documentation in order for your tuition fee status to be reconsidered.

Instructions on how to request a reassessment

Residence permit application
Once the tuition fee instalment has been paid and registered, students may apply for a residence permit for studies.

Residence permit for studies

If you have applied in the second admission round

Students from a country outside the EU/EEA will most likely not have enough time to apply for and receive their residence permit before the start of the semester if admitted in the second admissions round. Students who wish to proceed with the payment of the first installment, despite the residence permit difficulties that are likely to occur, should be informed of the following:

  • Students need to reply to the First Notification of Selection Results by 15 December on University Admissions.
  • The invoices can unfortunately not be sent until after the second notification of selection results has been published (18 December), as students are not considered to be definitely admitted until then.
  • Once the invoice has been received, the tuition fee should be paid promptly and a residence permit application should be done as soon as possible after the payment.
