About me
I am a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Slavic and Baltic Languages, Finnish, Dutch, and German.
I studied literary translation and German as a foreign language at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf. Between 2007 and 2017, I was a Junior Lecturer in German at Stockholm University. In 2017, I obtained my doctorate at the German section and at Justus-Liebig-University Giessen with a dissertation on cultural learning in computer-mediated asynchronous communication. Since 2018, I have been a Senior Lecturer in German. I was appointed as Associate Professor in 2024.
From 2020 to 2023, I was Director of Postgraduate Studies, and from 2024 to 2025, Deputy Head of Department.
My main teaching areas include courses on the culture of German-speaking countries and courses in foreign language pedagogy.
I supervise the following doctoral students:

Nico Daniel Schlösser (NTNU): Representations of community in textbooks for foreign and second language education
My research interests include cultural learning, historical learning, and memory culture in language education. I also conduct research on values in language teaching. In addition, I am interested in how digital media can be meaningfully integrated into language education.
My research primarily draws on qualitative-reconstructive approaches. I work with methods such as semi-structured and narrative interviews, qualitative content analysis, and Grounded Theory Methodology.
In my current research project, I examine how values education is enacted in the teaching of German as a foreign language within the framework of Germany's foreign cultural and educational policy.
Together with Nina Simon (Leipzig University), I initiated the international network HolDaF/Z (Lehren und Lernen über den Holocaust. Migrationspädagogische und postkoloniale Perspektiven im Kontext Deutsch als Zweit- und Fremdsprache).
