About me
With a background as an upper-secondary school teacher in Swedish and History, and a PhD in Education with a focus on adult learning, my work is situated at the intersection of practice and policy. I study how complex concepts such as “quality” are construed and how they shape organising, leadership, and professional practice, often with a particular focus on adult education.
I teach across several degree programmes at the Department of Education, with a particular focus on issues related to inclusion, the development of teaching and learning, and adult education. I contribute to teaching on the Rektorsprogrammet (the National Principal Training Programme), teach within the Teacher Education Programmes, and on the course Adult Education and Lifelong Learning. I am also the course coordinator for Organisation and Organising within the Master’s Programme in Educational Leadership.
I am interested in what happens when multifaceted concepts, such as “quality”, are formulated in policy and then put into practice. In my research, I examine how these ideas become meaningful, governing, and action-shaping in concrete settings, and what consequences this has for organising, leadership, and professional practice.
A recurring focus in my studies is how policy is negotiated, interpreted, and sometimes contested in encounters between different actors. Drawing on critical perspectives, I analyse, among other things, how quality is shaped and how room for manoeuvre is created or constrained at the intersection of national requirements and local conditions.
What drives me is a desire to make visible how governance and ideas of quality actually operate in practice: which values are reinforced, what dilemmas emerge, and how welfare organisations seek to create direction in complex and changing contexts. For me, this involves contributing to a more nuanced understanding of how quality is “done”, and bringing forward experiences and perspectives that risk being overlooked or silenced.
