Maria Pemsel

I am a lecturer in Music Education at the Department of Teaching and Learning at Stockholm University as well as director of studies for the subject Teaching and Learning in Arts. I have long experience working as a music teacher in elementary and upper secondary school. I have studied music psychology and have a master's degree in music education from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH) where I also have worked both as a lecturer in music didactics and as a coordinator for a collaboration project with Botkyrka municipality.

The focus on my studies have been "Learning music from the pupils' point of view". At several conferences national and international I have presented and published abstracts, posters and papers on this theme. The collaboration research project "Music and me" was presented at the EAS Conferens in Bolü, Turkey. I have contributed with a book chapter in an anthology published 2018 by Stockholm University Press concerning challenges and development opportunities in Teaching and Learning in Arts in the teacher programs at Stockholm University.
