Research group Focused Research Initiative in Health Law

The Focused Research Initiative in Health Law at the Department of Law, Stockholm University, is a research platform that brings together scholars from diverse academic perspectives to engage with questions concerning health, rights, and societal development.

In a society where new health challenges constantly emerge—driven, for example, by the digitalisation of healthcare, the use of artificial intelligence, demographic change, and global health crises—there is a growing need for research that sheds light on how legal and ethical frameworks shape human health and well-being.

The Focused Research Initiative in Health Law provides a platform where legal scholars collaborate with researchers from other disciplines, including medicine, ethics, and the social sciences. Through this interdisciplinary approach, complex health-related questions can be analysed from multiple perspectives, ranging from the individual’s right to healthcare to broader issues of public health and the societal conditions for good health.

The aim is to generate new knowledge, strengthen research collaborations, and contribute to solutions to key societal challenges related to health. The environment also serves as a platform for new research projects, international collaborations, and educational initiatives within the field of health law.
