As a PhD student at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, you are also a member of the PhD council at the department. The PhD council is a forum for all issues on the situation of the PhD students, whether it deals with research, teaching, courses or social activities.

Approximately we meet six times per year at PhD meetings where all members are free to bring up any question or opinion. The meetings are held in English. By participating in these meetings you can take part in the discussions and bring about changes in the situation of the PhD students.

The PhD council have elected representatives in the department board, which is the decisive unit of the department. At the board meetings, questions from the PhD council are ventilated and the representatives can influence decisions taken there.

An active participation in the PhD council gives a good opportunity to affect your working position, both at a local and a central level. The PhD council is also of a social importance and is a good source of information on what´s going on at the department and the faculty.
