Information på svenska om Horisont Europa

Horizon Europe is the EU framework programme for research and innovation with a budget of €95.5 billion during the seven-year period 2021-2027. It offers great opportunities for funding of individual research projects, mobility efforts and support for infrastructure and research in theme-oriented consortia.

Horizon Europe, pillars

Excellent Science (Pillar I)

Strengthening of Europe’s position within basic research.

  • European Research Council (ERC)
  • Marie Skoldowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)
  • Research infrastructure. At present there is no detailed information available on funding of research infrastructure within the new framework programme, including upcoming calls. We follow the developments and will supply additional information as soon as it is available.

Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (Pillar II)

This pillar reflects the strategic priorities of the EU, supports research related to societal challenges and strengthens technical and industrial capacity. The challenges are divided into six different clusters. There are also five different missions intended to create a stronger connection between EU research and innovation and the needs of society and the public. Applications within pillar II are made as a consortium with other researchers. This entails interdisciplinary cooperation and collaboration between various types of organizations.

Innovative Europe (Pillar III)

Intended to strengthen and pool transformative and groundbreaking technologies. The European Innovations Council (EIC) is the most important initiative within pillar III. The EIC instrument of greatest interest for university researchers is Pathfinder which will support projects in the phase from early technology to pre-commercial technology.
