Stockholm Center on Global Governance (SCGG) is an international interdisciplinary center for research on global governance.

The Stockholm Center on Global Governance (SCGG) is an interdisciplinary and international research center at Stockholm University with the aim to enhance the understanding of global governance. SCGG is Northern Europe's first center for the study of global governance. 

Its interdisciplinary research and training activities are focused on how global governance works culturally, economically, historically, legally, politically and psychologically. Related disciplines are, among others, history, international relations, law, political science, psychology and philosophy. 

The SCGG provides a welcoming and thriving research environment which encourages diversity, cross-disciplinary approaches, and excellence in research and training. The center also actively supports collaboration across researchers and a wide range of societal partners.

Central themes

Researchers at SCGG are particularly interested in investigating why, how and with what consequences global governance is challenged or contested, as well as how global governance can be strengthened, by becoming more democratic, efficient and fair.

These questions are examined through four central themes: sources, processes, consequences of contestation and enhancing global governance. These themes are addressed across four main policy areas: economy, environment, security and technology. The research aims to shed light on and contribute to an increased understanding of the complex dynamics that shape global governance today.

Education

Our interdisciplinary research school is open to doctoral students at Stockholm University with an interest in global governance. Subject to space, doctoral students at other universities in Sweden or internationally can also participate in the research school's activities.

Collaboration

SCGG has a wide range of societal partners in politics, civil society and business. The center aims to support both research development and decision-making in global governance, by supporting an active exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences across its researchers and societal partners.

Management

Stockholms Centrum on Global Governance is co-directed by professor Jonas Tallberg, Department of Political Science, and professor Lisa Dellmuth, Department of Economic History and International Relations. 

The center's research committee includes the leaders of specific research themes and representatives of various disciplines: Mark Klamberg, Department of Law, Antoinette Scherz, Department of Philosophy, professor Lisa Dellmuth, Department of Economic History and International Relations, and Jonas Tallberg, Department of Political Science. 

Administrative research coordinator at the center is Matilda Petersson (on leave). Project coordinator is Torkel Gure.  

The center is governed by a board, which establishes guidelines for its work, adopts its budget, and supports its activities.
