The brain behind this new brain imaging centre SUBIC is Professor Francisco Lacerda. He is the former head of the Department of Linguistics at Stockholm University. He is a professor emeritus in Phonetics and has a PhD and Electrical Engineer in Telecom and Electronics.

Niclas Kolm is a professor at the Department of Zoology. He is an evolutionary biologist with broad interests in life histories, sexual selection, speciation, and animal behavior. His main interest lie in brain evolution and the link between variation in brain morphology and behaviour. 

Håkan is a professor of Human Biological Psychology and the former head of the Department of Psychology. He is also associate professor at Karolinska Institute and affiliated to Aging Research Centre. Håkan started doing cognitive and affective brain imaging research in 1993. His primary area of research is individual differences in cognitive, affective, social and perceptual processing and the relation between these behaviors and brain function, with a specific focus on adult aging difference.

Maria Larsson is a professor of Perception and Psychophysics at the Department of Psychology. She is also the director of Gösta Ekman Laboratory, a research laboratory devoted to the study of sensory perception. Her research interests target primarily cognitive aspects of olfactory processing, with a particular focus on autobiographical memory, neurodegeneration, and various clinical conditions (e.g., blindness, autism). Jonas Olofsson is associate professor at the Department of Psychology at Stockholm University. His research and teaching involves perception, memory and emotion, with a focus on how the sense of smell, olfaction, affects these processes. His research team investigates whether olfaction provides an early marker for dementia, why it is so hard to name smells, if smell-based video games can be used for brain training, and how odors might affect social processes.
