SOFI Researchers Chosen to Join the Lindau Nobel Meeting

The Lindau Meetings bring together outstanding young scientists from around the world to engage in dialogue and exchange ideas with Nobel Laureates. Chloé Nibourel and Leopoldo Lazcano are two of only 250 promising young economists worldwide invited to this prestigious event.

Nibourel specialize in political and public economics, using data and econometric methods to better understand current trends in democratic systems. Her research primarily focuses on political polarization and its impact on elections and public policy.
"Getting the chance to meet 20 Nobel Prize winners from my own field in just one week is unbelievable. I am thrilled to be part of it, and I believe it will be a very enlightening experience,” said Leopoldo Lazcano, PhD-student at SOFI.
His doctoral research focuses on labor economics and social policies, exploring important issues such as crime, financial education, pensions, and gender.
The 2025 Lindau Nobel Meeting, taking place August 26–30, will focus on cutting-edge topics in economic sciences, facilitating interactions between the next generation of economic researchers and Nobel Laureates.
Lazcano's and Nibourel's participation are generously supported by the Ragnar Söderberg Foundation, covering travel costs and participation fee.
Labour economics is a very broad research field. In addition to research on labour market outcomes, such as wages and employment, the AME unit studies both elementary and higher education, health, taxes and income transfers, politics, crime and punishment, and gender equality.
