Kari-Mette Walmann Hidle is a professor of social science at the department for teacher education at NLA University College in Oslo, where she also leads a research group in social studies - social science didactics with colleagues from Oslo and Bergen. The purpose of her visit primarily revolved around the PhD school at the Faculty of Humanities where she conducted seminars and supervised PhD students.

Shares common interests with Maria Olson

"Maria Olson and I have gotten to know each other through our participation in the same research conferences and networks over the years. There are many similarities between the educational systems in the Nordic countries, which both of us are interested and engaged in. We also collaborate within the framework of the PhD course Politics, Democracy, and Citizenship – Social Studies Education and Research Traditions in the Nordic Context – for which Maria Olson is responsible."

"We have an ambition to explore the possibilities for developing education within this area, and we are in the process of finding forms for this together with other researchers from the Nordic countries."

Appreciated visit to Stockholm University

"I am very pleased to have been here. It has been particularly inspiring to learn how PhD students work together in the PhD school and to see how my Nordic colleagues work in their daily environments. Since this has been my first visit as a visiting researcher at Stockholm University, we have only laid the foundations for our continued collaboration. Research is a social activity – and I look forward to new meetings and gatherings on each other's home ground."
