Please note that you cannot include a course included in your previous undergraduate degree into your advanced degree (some exceptions exist - see local transfer rules). In order for you to be able to obtain a master's degree, you must first have completed a bachelor's degree or professional degree of at least 180 higher education credits or an equivalent foreign degree.

Requirements in course and programme syllabi

For those studying within a bachelor's or master's programme, there may be additional requirements to achieve the goals found in the educational plan for the program. Often this means restrictions regarding which courses can or must be included in the education and in which order these must be taken. In the same way, there may be eligibility requirements in syllabi (primarily syllabi for degree work for master's degrees) which set requirements for previously studied courses and thus for what can be included in the degree.

Restrictions

For many courses, special restrictions apply to the right to include the course in the degree. Broadly, this means that courses that fully or partially have the same content cannot be included in the same degree. See the respective syllabus or contact the study advisor.

Application for a degree certificate

The degree is not issued automatically when you meet the degree requirements. You must apply for the degree certificate. It sometimes takes quite a long time before the diploma is ready.

The degree certificate shows the title of the degree, main field and all completed courses (name of the course, number of higher education credits, grade and date).
