New publication explores the role of housing in society
On December 5, the first edition of the new interdisciplinary journal UTKAST, published by the architecture collective Fältstudio, will be launched.
PhD student Björn Nordvall from the Department of Human Geography at Stockholm University has collaborated as an editor and contributing author, together with Elise Jensen, Joar Nordvall, Hampus Thysell, Felix Wahlgren and Signe Widerberg from Fältstudio. This year's first issue, "A place to live", contains contributions that include research, theory, architectural projects as well as literary and artistic reflections on housing and its significance for a life of dignity, in line with the UN's view of housing as a human right. This issue contains texts in English, German, and Swedish written by authors based in Sweden, Germany, and Hong Kong.
UTKAST discusses current social questions through a combination of architectural, geographic, and artistic perspectives. It is intended to be a forum for presenting and refining unfinished ideas in order to influence modern society. The journal is only published in physical format, not digitally.
