Researchers from Stockholm University participate in international Memory Studies Conference
From July 14-18, 2025, two researchers and one PhD candidate from the Department of Human Geography at Stockholm University participated in the 9th Annual Meeting of the Memory Studies Association in Prague, Czech Republic.
The conference, themed "Beyond Crises: Resilience and (In)stability", brought together leading international scholars in the field of memory studies.
Stockholm University was represented by Associate Professor Danielle Drozdzewski, PhD Candidate Viktor Aronsson, and Postdoctoral Researcher Natalia Volvach, all affiliated with the Department of Human Geography.
Danielle Drozdzewski presented her research on "Researcher and trauma(tic) memories: (Post)Qualitative methods", while Viktor Aronsson spoke about his conference paper "'A visit from a dear friend': Meaning-making through embodied spectres and places in everyday railway labour". Natalia Volvach's presentation was titled "Unsettling Vulnerability in the Wake of Violence: Witnessing the war unfold in Qirim-Crimea during the time of the Russian occupation".
During the conference, Danielle Drozdzewski and Natalia Volvach also organized a panel titled "Remembering Trauma: Imprints of War Violence on Bodies and Landscapes", where they featured their ongoing research.
