Friedländer lab method highlighted by Nature Methods

The MapToCleave method - developed by the Friedländer lab - has been chosen for a Research Highlight by the Nature Methods journal. The high-throughput method can be used to profile microRNA biogenesis in living cells, in contrast to existing screening methods that work in vitro. Applying MapToCleave, the Friedländer lab has discovered a specific structural region in the microRNA stem that strongly influences the biogenesis outcome. The findings were confirmed by microRNA distributions in hundreds of tissues from 20 animal species, available in the MirGeneDB database. The study was originally published in Cell Reports.
