Join us for an up-to-date look at the state and fate of Sweden’s glaciers. You will also be introduced to Tarfala Research Station (TRS), Stockholm University's centre för glaciological and alpine research.

The summer season 2025, and thus the glaciological year 2024/2025, has just ended, and Nina Kirchner, director of TRS and professor of Glaciology, shares with you the latest insights as well as how it is to live and work for six months each year at this remote research station high in the Swedish mountains.

Attendance is free and snacks will be served. Drinks will be available for purchase at the venue.
This event is open to SU alumni, students and staff. Registration is needed. There is a limited number of places, so it is first come, first served!
Nina Kirchner is Sweden’s first female professor of glaciology and also the director of the Tarfala Research Station (TRS) in the Kebnekaise mountains. Research at Tarfala primarily focuses on glaciers, but other scientific studies and field-based teaching for students are also carried out there.
Alumni Insights is a get-together for Stockholm University alumni. It is an opportunity to meet, network and get new input and inspiration on a current topic.
