Language and Translation Studies, Bachelor's Programme, specialisation Spanish
This programme in Translation Studies requires well-documented, high proficiency in Swedish.
Translation Studies is a discipline with a common core and two main fields of research: interpreting and translation. The common core is mainly concerned with the study of mediation between languages and the cognitive, textual and social processes involved in these activities. An important difference between the fields is that translation is mainly concerned with written activities, while interpreting usually involves an element of more or less spontaneous speech (oral or signed). However, there are many hybrid forms. For example, subtitling films and TV programmes involves both speech and writing, and interpreting can involve a mixture of different modalities, including writing and speech as well as signs.
