Multivariate methods
Multivariate statistical methos are central to the analysis of complex and large data in a variety of disciplines, such as psychology, sociology, biology, economics, etc. The course covers methods for dimension reduction and classification. The course will also provide the basic skills in linear algebra needed to understand the methods treated. The course will furthermore provide opportunities for the student to gain extensive experience in applying the methods on different kinds of data.
The course is given at day time, half time.

The teaching consists of lectures, exercises, and computer exercises.

Assessment
Students are assessed by examination of the expected learning outcomes. The examination consists of a portfolio of two separate examination parts:
(1) Part I: an individual written (re-)exam with a selection of theoretical problems, and
(2) Part II: an individual home assignment with practical data analysis to be handed in as a written report.
