I teach teacher programmes for becoming teachers in grade 1-6. In these programmes I mainly teach in the later half of the programme where the students are doing small research projects. First, they do a literature review of about ten research papers and a few semesters after that they do a small empirical study, often building on the literature review. I teach a course in curricular theory and assessment where the students get a sociological view on mathematics education where the classroom is seen as part of a system and a bigger context. In this, I get the possibility to offer the students a scientific and historic background to mathematics education in Sweden and to challenge them to view different ideas about mathematics teaching critically.
