About me

I am a PhD student in ethnology affiliated with Cemas (Center for Maritime Studies). My thesis topic is about the relationship between people and weather in maritime environments. The aim is to contribute with new knowledge about people's experiences of weather and perceptions of different types of weather and weather phenomena from the turn of the century 1800 until today.

I use a wide variety of sources such as archival material, museum collections and in-depth interviews. I draw theoretical and methodological inspiration from phenomenology, history of emotions and materiality studies. My research sheds light on how meaning about weather is shaped and transformed. I explore what feelings and sensory impressions are associated with different types of weather phenomena and how the weather is incorporated in people's bodies and minds.
