About me

I am a PhD student in sociological demography at Stockholm University's Demography Unit.

My MSc is in Demography and my BA in Human Geography and Urban Planning from Stockholm University.

My dissertation project focuses on international migrants and refugees, their transnational activities and migration patterns related to host country integration. Within my thesis I map, describe and analyze the relations between transnational activities, migration trajectories and socio-economic integration of foreign-born residents within Sweden, using Swedish survey and register data.

Examples of questions that are analysed within the thesis:

  • To what extent do foreign-born residents in Sweden engage in different types of transnational activities and relations such as sending remittances, visiting the country of origin, having active relations with friends and family in other nation states? How do these activities relate do processes of socio-economic integration?
  • Which international migration trajectories (differing between return- onward- and circular migration) can be discerned among foreign born living in Sweden? How are these trajectories associated with their socio-economic integration in Sweden and what are the characteristics of persons likely to become such migrants?
