About me

I am a PhD student in sociological demography at Stockholm University's Demography Unit.

My MSc is in Demography and my BA in Human Geography and Urban Planning from Stockholm University.

My dissertation project focuses on international repeat migration. Migrants are increasingly engaging in repeat migration after their initial move, either returning back to their country of birth, country of prior residence or onward to another country. In my dissertation I map, describe and analyze return and onward migration trajectories, focusing on foreign-born migrants leaving Sweden and Spain.

A first article maps and analyses the determinants of return and onward migration among foreign-born migrants in Sweden, 1990-2015:

A summary of this study you find here:

Another article engages with the unregistered events of emigration, which leads to bias in demographic estimates. The focus is Sweden and Swedish register data:

In a third project I am currently looking at economic conditions after returning from Spain to the country of origin (Argentina, Romania and Senegal), depending on the different conditions at return (for example if you had time to prepare your return, if it was voluntary or not).

Differences between emigration intentions and actual emigration is the theme of a fourth project. Depending on the formal integration and attachment to recieving and sending countries intentions and actual emigration might differ. The goal of this project is to compare intentions to actual behavior as well as to analyse in which cases intentions are followed and in which cases they are not.
