About me
I am specialised in the laboratory production and bioinformatic analysis of large-scale Next-Generation-Sequencing data from plant DNA with phylogenetic applications. During my PhD at the University of Gothenburg, I have studied the evolutionary history of circumpolar Silene sect. Physolychnis (Caryophyllaceae family) using Bayesian phylogenetics. I have worked mainly with target capture data from herbarium specimens, with both short and long reads.
Research
At Stockholm University I work with Dr. Gitte Petersen on the order Santalales, a large group of angiosperm species chracterized by different forms of parasitism. Mistletoe (Viscum album) and sandalwoods (hemiparasitic trees from the genus Santalum) are iconic representatives of the order. I investigate the evolution of mitogenomes across the group in a phylogenetic context, mitochondrial genomes being notorious for their extremely variable size and structure.
