About me

I am an environmental scientist specialising in organic contaminant bioavailability, bioaccumulation, and ecological risk assessment in aquatic ecosystems. My research field is in between environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology, my work focuses on the fate and effects of organic contaminants, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and pesticides, in freshwater and marine environments.

I currently work on two research projects investigating:

  • Mobility and Bioavailability of Sediment Contaminants: Examining the role of sediment and contaminant properties and turbidity in predicting contaminant release, uptake in passive samplers and algae, and toxicity, with a focus on PAHs and their ecological implications.
  • Pesticide Mixtures in Biofilms: Studying how pesticide properties influence bioaccumulation and toxicity in biofilms, key microbial communities in aquatic ecosystems. This research aims to develop predictive models to assess the environmental risks of pesticide mixtures more accurately.
