About me

Kingsley Bolton is Professor Emeritus in English Linguistics. His research interests include a wide range of topics related to language and society and English worldwide. Kingsley is currently Chief Editor of Educational Studies (Routledge), Co-Editor of the international journal World Englishes (Wiley-Blackwell), and a member of the Editorial Advisory Boards of Applied Linguistics Review, English Today, English World-Wide, Global Chinese, and the Journal of World Languages. His research agenda focuses on multilingualism, English in the Asian region, English-medium education, and world Englishes.

Recent publications have included The Handbook of Asian Englishes (2020, Wiley-Blackwell, with Werner Botha and Andy Kirkpatrick, winner of the PROSE award from the American Association of Publishers in the category ‘Language and Linguistics’), The Routledge Handbook of English-Medium Instruction in Higher Education (2024, with Werner Botha and Benedict Lin), and the Wiley Blackwell Encyclopedia of World Englishes (Ed., 2025). In addition, he is also Editor for the Routledge book series, Multilingual Asia.
