Research

My research focuses on reconstructing past changes in both climate and solar activity by investigating environmental archives such as ice cores and sedimentary records. In particular, I measure and analyze cosmogenic radionuclides (e.g. 10Be, 14C, 36Cl) to i) reconstruct solar activity, ii) discover and quantify ancient solar storms, iii) derive robust time scales for paleoclimate studies.

One of my current interests is understanding how often extreme solar storms have occurred throughout the Holocene and the effects they have had on Earth's atmosphere or would have on modern society.

Motivated students interested in (paleo-)climate science or solar activity are welcome to reach out to me for projects.
