About me
Iacopo Bianchi received both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University in Milan. Before starting the PhD program, he worked at BRAC Uganda, then he joined the World Bank Uganda’s country office as a consultant and later the CGD in Tanzania. Throughout these experiences he has been exposed to randomized experiments focused on how to foster youth employment, strengthen women’s property rights over household assets, and promote small businesses’ growth. Before joining the IIES in September 2021, he spent two years at the Department of Economics at Stockholm University. His primary research interests lie in the fields of development economics, and economic history, with a special focus on issues concerning firms’ growth, gender disparities, and Africa’s colonial legacy.
