I am Professor in Medical Physics at the Department of Physics, Stockholm University and the Head of the Medical Radiation Physics division at Stockholm University which is affiliated to the Department of Oncology and Pathology at Karolinska Institutet. My main current research area concerns the biologically-optimized and adapted radiotherapy with respect to the adverse tumour response phenotypes as well as the quality of radiation, irradiation technique and fractionation regime.
A personalized radiotherapy strategy, making use of the tumour functional information, which aims at administering a more aggressive treatment in the areas of the tumour more resistant to radiation.
Stereotactic radiotherapy is a highly successful radiotherapy modality for specific types of cancer involving the delivery of the treatment in one (radiosurgery) or very few sessions.
SINFONIA project will develop novel methodologies and tools that will provide a comprehensive risk appraisal for detrimental effects of radiation exposure on patients, workers, carers and comforters, the public and the environment during the management of patients suspected or diagnosed with lymphoma and brain tumours.
