About me
I am a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock (MPIDR) and the Department of Sociology at Stockholm University. I completed my MPhil in Demography training at the University of Cape Town in South Africa in 2018. Before starting PhD studies, I worked with non-governmental organizations in Malawi as a monitoring and evaluation specialist for community health programme. I also worked with the University of Malawi as a Lecturer in population studies.
Research
My research interests lie in the areas of family dynamics and fertility. During my MPhil studies, I explored the link between union dissolution, remarriage and fertility in the context of Malawi. My focus now is to extend this work to 34 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. I am interested in documenting the role of union dissolution and remarriage in shaping fertility variation and trends in this region.
