Johanna Ringarp is Associate professor in History and in Pedagogy, Phil. Dr in History and senior lecturer in History of Education.
Research
Her research specialties include history of education, educational policy, teacher profession, post-Second world war German history and Educational establishment programs for newly arrived job-seeking migrants 1970s-2000s.
Ringarp is at the moment active in three research projects: Meritocracy, democracy or market? Governance of higher education in Finland and Sweden, 1965-2018 (financed by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies), Bourgeios feminism or class solidarity? Working class women´s action and strategies in the bourgeois women´s movement around the turn of the ceuntry 1900 (financed by the Swedish Research Council) and Programs for newly arrived job-seeking immigrants. The making of a new nich in the Swedish educational system (financed by the Swedish Research Council, project manager Ida Lidegran, Uppsala University).
Right now she is also developing a major project on the history of epilepsy in Sweden together with Lena Lennerhed, Södertörn University. She has published two articles on the theme: ”`Nytt ljus på epilepsien´. Om epilepsi och den medicinska utvecklingen under 1950-talet” (2019) and together with Lena Lennerhed ”Den farliga epileptikern: äktenskapshinder och yrkeshinder i det svenska 1900-talet” (2019).
