About me
I
I am a PhD student focusing on the origin and distribution of organic matter in the Arctic Ocean, specifically the nearshore area on the Canadian Beaufort Shelf and Victoria Fjord in Greenland. My research aims to understand the carbon budget and deposition rates in these regions and how they are affected by anthropogenic climate change, including determining the contributions of permafrost coastal erosion and Mackenzie River runoff in Canada.
I have had the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field, including FloChar Spring 2024, a month-long expedition in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada. Here, I collected marine sediment cores from the land fast ice. I also participated in the GEOEO 2024 cruise aboard Oden, where we collected sediment cores from the Victoria Fjord and the Lincoln Sea, northern Greenland.
As part of my lab work, I analyze the biochemical properties, stable isotopes and biomarkers of marine sediments. I map this data using various geoinformatic techniques to obtain a comprehensive overview of the studied areas.
