I am a Senior Lecturer in Education, specialising in higher education teaching and learning, at the Department of Education, Stockholm University. Since 2023, I have also served as Director of Studies, with responsibility for, among other things, courses within the teacher education programme and our Master’s Programme in Education with International and Comparative specialisation.

My professional background is in secondary education but have worked in higher education since 2011. In 2017, I received my PhD in Psychology with the thesis Learning in higher education: Approaches to learning among psychology students. Before joining the Department of Education, I worked as a Lecturer and subsequently as a Senior Lecturer in Psychology, both at the Department of Psychology at Stockholm University and at Södertörn University.

I am not currently teaching. Before taking up my position as Director of Studies, I primarily taught and supervised students in various forms of teacher education, including courses offered through CeUL (the Centre for the Advancement of University Teaching), VAL (for practicing teachers) and ULV (the Bridging Programme for Teachers Educated Abroad).

I particularly enjoy teaching on professionally oriented programmes and have previously taught students training to become psychologists, sociologists and human resources specialists. The courses I have taught have covered subjects such as higher education teaching and learning, didactics and developmental psychology.

My research field is educational psychology, with a focus on adolescent and adult learning. I am particularly interested in higher education and students’ perspectives on learning. In my doctoral research, I investigated how approaches to learning develop and how they vary in relation to factors such as academic achievement among first-year students. Since completing my PhD, my research has included critical thinking in psychology and how students with special educational needs perceive the opportunities and challenges associated with online teaching.

I am currently involved in a research project investigating how incorporating existential dimensions into teaching can support and deepen upper-secondary students’ learning in psychology and religious education. Based on the findings, the project develops didactic principles for meaningful teaching that allows students to make personal connections while respecting their privacy and personal boundaries.
