About me

I am a PhD student with a background as a photographer and book publisher. I hold an MA in sociology from Stockholm University and a BA in philosophy from Södertörn university.

In my dissertation project I explore how participation in the subculture of hip-hop and graffiti influences individual’s life chances. I am interested in how adolescent networks influences the participants paths in life and how they utilize subcultural networks as adults. One of my aims is to expand knowledge on career paths built on subcultural learning that establish subcultural agents as either professional artists, criminals, or entrepreneurs. I employ mixed methods utilizing network analysis and visual sociology as well as cultural sociology.

My research interests include production of meaning, valuation, subcultures, the sociology of generations, intersectionality and masculinity, as well as the relation between art, economy, and criminality.
