Research interests
My research deals with education - media relations, both understood in a broad sense. This line of research has two main focus areas. One is directed towards politics / policy and deals with how educational issues are constructed discursively in the media. Here, for example, I have examined how school and (good) teachers are constructed in Dagens Nyheter over time and how popular education is constructed in different media. The other main focus is more didactic and deals with digitalization in education. Here, for example, I have studied what happens when schools invest in one-computer-per-pupil or digital learning materials. Both of these research directions are driven by a curriculum theoretical interest in the contextual conditions of education. Both media discourses and digital resources are thus understood as simultaneously enabling and restricting education, both in and outside the school.
In addition to these two orientations, my research has also focused on education and value issues, such as teachers' anti-racist actions. Again, I am driven by an interest in contextual conditions.
