Muna Elmi
About me
I hold a PhD in Cell Biology from University of Gothenburg, and have a background in interdisciplinary research, having worked as a Research Associate in a multidisciplinary team that combined biology and computer science at University College London, UK. The research spanned from exploring the relationship between biomechanics, neuronal signaling, and behavioral output to applied biotechnology—leveraging innovative technologies to advance medical diagnostics, with a focus on rapid and accurate disease prediction and diagnosis.
Currently, at Stockholm University’s SPIDER Center, I lead an international digital health initiative focused on enhancing health system performance through data-driven approaches. This work involves coordinating multi-stakeholder collaborations and driving action research to strengthen data quality, accessibility, and use, key elements for informed decision-making in health systems. By developing scalable digital solutions and fostering local capacity, the initiative demonstrates how contextually relevant interventions can be effectively adapted and transferred across diverse settings, particularly in underserved or resource-restricted environments.
