Marcin WlodarczakSenior lecturer
About me
I am a Senior Lecturer (universitetslektor) in Phonetics at the Department of Linguistics, Stockholm University. Before moving to Stockholm in 2014, I got a PhD in linguistics with specialisation in phonetics from Bielefeld University (2014). In 2018, I became a Docent in Phonetics.
In my reasearch, I am primarily interested in the link between physiology of speech production and its communicative functions in spontanous conversation. In recent years, I have been working on communicative and prosodic functions of speech breathing (Swedish Research Council project Breathing in conversation) and phonation (Swedish Research Council project Prosodic functions of voice quality dynamics).
In addition to research, I also do some teaching, mostly related to processing and analysis of linguistic and phonetic data. In the last couple of years, my two mainstay courses have been Data collection in speech and voice research (MA course, 7.5 ECTS, fall term), Analysis and processing of speech and voice (MA course, 7.5 ECTS, fall term) and Statistics for linguists (MA course, 7.5 ECTS, fall term). I have been also teaching various courses at Uppsala University, Karolinska Institutet and KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Details of my academic work can be found in my CV, which I try to keep reasonably up to date. My name is pronounced [ˈmarʨin vwɔˈdarʧak].
