About me

Nishant Kumar is an Associate Professor at Stockholm Business School. He is head of the Nordic-India Business Research Forum. He served as Programme Director for MSc Marketing programme at SBS from Jan 2018 to Jul 2021.

Teaching

Nishant Kumar actively teaches courses in the areas of International Business, Service Marketing, Business and Industrial Marketing, Organization Theory, and Research Methods, at both Bachelor and Master levels. Nishant has delivered lectures at business schools in China, Finland, France, India, Japan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, and Thailand.

Research

Nishant's primary research interests lie in the areas of international business strategy, and sustainability. In his research, he has explored topics- emergence and growth of international new ventures; internationalisation of emerging market firms; transparency, trust and legitimacy in markets; managing political risks in international business; and issue of sustainability. In his recent project, he is interested in exploring how firms build and shape sustainability narratives in interaction with different actors in the market, and gain legitimacy for their products and services as environmentally friendly and socially equitable. In another project, he is working on developing a framework for managing social media bloggers / vloggers (influencers).

Nishant has published in journals, International Marketing Review, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of International Entrepreneurship, Advances in International Marketing, International Business Review, Critical Perspectives on International Business, among others. Nishant’s research has been supported by MIT Research School, MTC Research Foundation, Forum for Asian Studies, and the Swedish Retail and Wholesale Development Council. As part of his engagement in the research community, Nishant has acted as a reviewer for conferences (e.g., CIMaR, GMC, AIB, EIBA, AOM, BAM) and journals (e.g., IMR, IBR, JIEN, JBIM, EMJ, IJEM, SIJ, ECR, QMR). He currently serves as an editorial review board member of the Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing, Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies and editorial advisory board member of the Journal of Insitute of Public Enterprise. He has also served as co-guest Editor of the special issue on Value innovation in practice: Leveraging learning in distant contexts in Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing. Nishant has organized the Inaugural Nordic-India Business Research Conference 2018SBS Emerging Market Research Workshop 2017, ​and co-chaired the 22nd CBIM International Conference 2017.
