Samuel David Carey

About me

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Law funded by the WASP-HS (Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems, and Software Program - Humanities and Society) at Stockholm University. I hold Bachelor of Law (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (Hons) from the University of Auckland, as well as a Master's in Law from Stockholm University.

My doctoral research delves into the impact of artificial intelligence on court systems, employing Niklas Luhmann's system theory. Specifically, I am exploring how algorithmic processes alter the court's role as an immune mechanism in legal decision-making. Alongside my research, I teach Legal Informatics at Stockholm University. My research interests extend to the sociology of law, legal theory, and dispute resolution theory.
