My research focuses on development of synthetic model compounds of lignin’s structure which is a heterogeneous aromatic polymer, known for its complexity and amorphous structure. These models will help scientists explore the critical steps involved in the breakdown of lignin, advancing our understanding of the process and how it could be better controlled for applications. These studies aim to investigate the reactivity of different linkages and develop methods to convert biomass into valuable products.
