Peter SvedbergProfessor Emeritus
About me
Peter Svedberg is Professor Emeritus at the IIES. Most of Svedberg’s early work was focused on the economics of colonialism and different topics in international trade and investment. He also served as a long-term consultant in these and related areas for various international agencies, among them UNCTAD, UNDP and the African Development Bank. In recent times, Svedberg has worked and published mainly on issues on the interface of economics and malnutrition in developing countries. His current project has as its chief aim to explain why the high overall economic growth rate since the early 1990s in India has failed to reduce malnutrition (and poverty) more than marginally. In subsequent work, Svedberg will compare this dismal experience in India with the more favourable developments in China.
