Tanushree Rao
About me
Tanushree is a PhD Candidate at Stockholm University's Department of Economic History and International Relations. Her research considers how inequality manifests in international disaster aid patterns, particularly in the context of complex and climate-related humanitarian emergencies. She is also interested in plural epistemologies and employs critical quantitative and spatial methods in her work, including feminist and decolonial approaches to statistics.
Tanushree is affiliated with the Stockholm Centre for Global Governance (SCGG) and previously the MISTRA Geopolitics program. Prior to academia, she worked as a communication specialist and program advisor in Australia and Timor-Leste in the fields of international development, gender, technology, peacebuilding, and environmental management. She holds an MSSc in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University (2021) via the Rotary Peace Fellowship program, and dual bachelor's degrees (2012) with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Peace and Conflict Studies, a Bachelor of Journalism, and an Honours degree in International Relations (2013) from the University of Queensland.
