About me
Yasmini Portes, PhD student in the Mika Sipponen group.
I have a B.Sc. in Food Engineering, a M.Sc. in Nutrition and Health and a M.Sc. degree from the Erasmus Mundus master program BIOCEB (Biological and Chemical Engineering for a Sustainable Bioeconomy). My main research interest is the valorization of industrial by-products for obtaining biobased chemicals and materials.
As a PhD student at SU, I will work in the SUSMATCHEM group, led by Prof. Mika Sipponen, to develop new organic-inorganic hybrid materials from food industry side streams for sustainable chemistry applications. My project is part of the WISE (Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability) program.
