Research group Hanna Boström group
Our research group focuses on crystal engineering and structure-property relationships in a range of coordination polymers, often metal-cyanide frameworks.
Group description
Our particular interests revolve around functional coordination polymers/framework materials, especially those with switchable properties. Deeply rooted in crystallographic techniques, we primarily study fundamental aspects of materials, but always with a view towards applications.
Some current topics include spin crossover in Prussian blue analogues and Hofmann complexes, as well as the exploration of new polar materials. Crucial to rational material design is a deep understanding of the structural degrees of freedom and their impact on the properties of interest. To further understand this, we investigate both the link between the synthesis and the structure, as well as the structure-property relationships. Our main tools include crystallography, often under variable temperature or pressure, and magnetic measurements.
