Research group Materialities, Environments, and Objects of War Research
The MEOW: Materialities, Environments, and Objects of War Research Group is an interdisciplinary network anchored at the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies, Stockholm University, and the Department of War Studies, Swedish Defence University.
Group description
This group brings together scholars interested in exploring the role of material culture, environments, and objects in relation to war and conflict, integrating perspectives from archaeology, war studies, political science, and other related disciplines. Our goal is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and discussion around the material dimensions of warfare and conflict.
We host regular (hybrid) meetings that feature presentations and discussions on a variety of topics related to these themes. These sessions include speakers from both Stockholm and international institutions. Looking ahead, the group plans to design and participate in research projects, organize workshops, and contribute to collaborative publications and conferences.
