Research project Womens forest networks

Separate organisation and gender negotiations in Swedish forest governance.

The project seeks to highlight the gendered dimensions of Swedish forest governance by focusing on separate networks for women forest owners and the spatial production of individual and collective identities within the networks. The themes explored in the project includes; separate networks challenging male hegemony in Swedish forestry, conflicting discourses on femininity and masculinity expressed in relation to forest management, the dual process of adopting and challenging forest management discourses in identity formation, and situating the case of women’s separate forest owner networks in the equality discourse and process of gender mainstreaming in the forest sector and the current regime of neoliberal policy and governance.
