Research subject The Use of History and Tourism
The use of history is a concept that captures how history, i.e. the image of what has been, is used for purposes that may be ideological, economic, identity politics or academic.
The main question concerns how different representations or interpretations of history promote the interests of different actors. Linked to tourism, the concept often directs attention to the commodification of the past, and the role of history in identity politics issues.
