Research subject Signaling and behaviour of neuronal networks
Brain networks are composed of different neural populations which connect and transmit information locally and to other brains regions. By deciphering the anatomical and functional properties of brain networks we aim to understand how these circuits control behaviour.
At the department, methods such as neuroanatomy and connectivity mapping, histochemistry, genomic profiling, electrophysiology, in vivo calcium imaging of neural activity, optogenetics and other neuromanipulation techniques are used to untangle specific components of neural circuits. We aim to understand how behaviour emerges from properties of neurons and their connections, and study their contribution to both healthy brain function and disease.
