Examples of materials in current studies include porous materials such as zeolites and metal-organic frameworks, complex oxides, oxynitrides, metal hydrides, low-dimensional compounds, intermetallic compounds and ceramic materials. The physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the materials are investigated along with their applications in, for example, catalysis, energy conversion, storage and generation, molecule separation and as thermoelectric materials. Our strong competence in structural characterization by electron crystallography, advanced TEM methods, as well as X-ray and neutron diffraction is important for exploring the relationship between structure and properties.
